North Rhine-Westphalia: 18-year-old caught with 62 banned firecrackers

Gelsenkirchen (dpa / lnw) - An 18-year-old was caught with 62 forbidden firecrackers in Gelsenkirchen's main station. The young man was noticed by federal police officers because he was clearly carrying the firecrackers in a shoulder bag, some of them packed in boxes. Since the official sale of New Year's Eve fireworks had not yet opened, it was controlled. According to a message, it was shown that the crackers were category F3 explosive devices that required approval. The Bochumer could not provide any proof of permission to use it, it said. The officers secured the 62 crackers. Employees of the defusing service later rendered them harmless. The incident happened last Friday, as the federal police in Dortmund announced on Monday.
