Gescher (dpa / lnw) - A 20-year-old passenger was fatally injured when a car collided with a breakdown service on Autobahn 31 near Gescher (Borken district) in the direction of Emden. The 19-year-old driver of the car and two other occupants - a man and a woman - were taken to the hospital early in the morning with serious injuries, a police spokesman said on Saturday.
A cattle transporter with cattle was secured because of a flat tire and stood on the hard shoulder with warning lights. For initially unknown reasons, the car left the road to the right and crashed into the breakdown service behind the truck. The truck drivers were not injured.
The highway was completely closed on Saturday morning, according to the police. The traffic will be diverted from the Borken junction, the spokesman said. The closure is expected to last until noon. An appraiser is on site.
