North Rhine-Westphalia: 21-year-old in the wrong police uniform for Internet clips

Hagen (dpa / lnw) - Disguised as a police officer, a young man was exposed at Hagen main station. Federal police officers became aware of the 21-year-old on Saturday night because he was wearing "parts of a police uniform". In addition to dark blue trousers, he was wearing black high-heeled shoes and a blue T-shirt with the inscription "Police" on the front and back, the federal police said on Monday. In addition, a non-functioning radio and leather gloves were attached to his pants.

The man's appearance gave the impression of being a police officer, it said. As a reason for the deception, he stated that he used the clothes to produce short videos for his social media account. He would question people, but then make it clear that he was not a police officer.

The 21-year-old had to go to the federal police station. The officers took photos and seized the t-shirt. A procedure "because of misuse of professional titles" was initiated.

A real police uniform can be recognized by several features, the federal police clarified. Among other things, they wear a police coat of arms of the respective federal state or the federal government, which is located on the left upper arm of the uniform. If in doubt, citizens should have their service ID shown to them.
