Essen (dpa / lnw) - A 19-year-old is said to have attacked his 76-year-old neighbor in his apartment in Essen and injured him with punching and piercing tools. According to the current state of investigation, the young man is said to have knocked on the door of the 76-year-old Essener last Friday evening. When the senior opened the door, he was suddenly attacked by his neighbors, the police said on Monday.
The suspect then fled from the apartment building in the Altendorf district. A neighbor from the next building heard the senior's calls for help and alerted the police. The 76-year-old was treated as an outpatient in the hospital. The 19-year-old was arrested after a witness and is already in custody. He is being investigated for attempted murder. No information was given about the attacker's motive.
