Mülheim an der Ruhr (dpa / lnw) - A smart senior citizen has convicted a trickster in Mülheim an der Ruhr. The gang of the crooks wanted to make the 79-year-old believe by a shock call on Friday that she had to post bail after her daughter's fatal accident, the police said on Sunday.
However, the woman saw through the swindle and therefore quickly claimed to have 15,000 euros in the house. Parallel to their phone call, the woman's 20-year-old grandson alerted the police, according to the announcement. The scammers fell into the trap - and agreed that a messenger would pick up the sum a little later at the elderly woman's front door. When a money collector from the gang of fraudsters finally showed up there, the police temporarily arrested the 41-year-old, the message said.
