Essen (dpa / lnw) - North Rhine-Westphalia expects snow and smoothness in the coming days only in the mountains, but it will still be damp and cold for most people. Wednesday will be cloudy to heavily overcast and individual showers are also possible, which usually fall as snow from the sky at high altitudes, as reported by the German Weather Service (DWD) in Essen. The maximum temperatures are between three and six degrees.

Snow will fall again in the mountains on Thursday and it will become slippery, while the rest of the country will have to reckon with showery rain in places. At night it gets very cold with minus one to minus five degrees.

It stays mostly dry only on Friday. Temperatures will rise to one to three degrees over the course of the day.
