Dortmund / Kamen (dpa / lnw) - After the serious accident with a dead truck driver from the Netherlands, the A2 at the Kamener Kreuz in the direction of Hanover will probably remain completely closed until Thursday morning (11 a.m.). This was announced by Autobahn GmbH and the police in Dortmund on Wednesday. The road surface of the busy motorway has to be renewed in part after the accident on Tuesday afternoon.
In the accident, which resulted in the death of a 69-year-old truck driver from the Netherlands, a large amount of oil spilled over a long distance. The roadway was so badly damaged that it had to be completely renewed, it said.
According to initial investigations, the 69-year-old from the neighboring country drove his truck into a traffic jam for reasons that are still unclear. He collided with the truck of a 47-year-old. Due to the force of the impact, this truck was pushed onto another semi-trailer truck of a 49-year-old who was driving ahead. The 69-year-old was trapped in his driver's cab and had to be rescued by the fire department. He later succumbed to his injuries in hospital. The 47-year-old truck driver suffered minor injuries.
