Hagen (dpa / lnw) - Six months after the start of the complete closure of the Autobahn 45 near Lüdenscheid, business representatives and the German trade union federation are calling for more speed in the construction of the Rahmedetalbrücke. "All those responsible must use all acceleration potential to end the blocking in record time," said Michael Plohmann, Managing Director of the Hagen district craftsmen's association on Thursday at a joint press conference by the South Westphalian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), district craftsmen's association, Lüdenscheid employers' association and DGB.
In order to accelerate the pace, special paths would have to be taken or new paths would have to be tested in the form of pilot projects. This was also possible after the flood disaster in summer 2021 when repairing damaged bridges. Plohmann referred to the accelerated construction of liquid gas terminals on the North Sea or the Tesla factory in Brandenburg. The region also needs more transparency and communication on the status of planning.
The responsible Autobahn GmbH of the Federal Government has so far assumed that the new construction will take around five years. The representatives from the area of South Westphalia demand that the construction time must be less. The next step is to blow up the defective bridge between Lüdenscheid-Nord and Lüdenscheid. According to IHK general manager Ralf Geruschkat, the blocking has so far caused economic damage of 180 million euros.
The Autobahn 45 is regarded nationwide as an important north-south connection between Dortmund and Frankfurt. Since the ailing Rahmedetalsperre was closed in December 2021, heavy goods traffic has been diverted over a wide area via other motorways. Traffic in the region will be routed through Lüdenscheid via a detour route.
