North Rhine-Westphalia: after a mass brawl: dozens of men discovered in the apartment

Essen (dpa / lnw) - After two mass brawls in Essen, the police have now identified numerous suspected participants. After the first fight on Saturday evening, officials discovered 40 men in a single apartment, a spokesman said. The "WAZ" had previously reported.

According to the police, on Tuesday night it was quiet at the scene of the earlier brawls. When a car was checked, however, several occupants were temporarily taken into custody after the officers found two striking tools on them.

The fact that things remained quiet after two evenings of clashes between two clans could be due to the appointment of a so-called magistrate. According to the police, one had heard from several quarters that a magistrate was supposed to mediate. This form of "parallel justice" is strictly rejected, a spokesman said. In this case, such a justice of the peace is recognized by the clans as an authority and mediates in disputes. He has nothing to do with a real judge.

For the first time, around 400 people took part in a mass brawl in the Altendorf district on Saturday. A man was seriously injured by a stab wound. On Sunday there were again smaller clashes, which culminated in a fight between around 100 participants in the evening.
