North Rhine-Westphalia: After the G7 summit: additional day off for NRW police officers

Düsseldorf/Krün (dpa/lnw) - The around 1,000 police officers from NRW involved in the G7 summit in Bavaria will be given an additional day off. The police union (GdP) had previously campaigned for this.

"The mission far from home was associated with deprivation. We have therefore agreed with the Ministry of Finance that the NRW police forces involved in the special operation in Bavaria will be granted an additional day off," said Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) of the German Press Agency .

According to the Ministry of the Interior, the specific processing should be clarified "promptly" by circular. At the G7 summit in Schloss Elmau in the Bavarian town of Krün, things remained peaceful, but the police officers from North Rhine-Westphalia sometimes had to contend with adverse circumstances. According to the GdP, they had to build their own huts in the forest to protect themselves from the rain.
