North Rhine-Westphalia: After thunderstorms and heavy rain, it mostly stays dry

Essen (dpa / lnw) - After local thunderstorms with heavy rain, it should mostly remain dry in North Rhine-Westphalia in the coming days. The heat was also over for the time being, said a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD) on Saturday morning. The maximum temperatures are therefore 23 degrees on Saturday and 24 degrees on Sunday and Monday. "It will remain around 25 degrees next week," said the meteorologist.

East and South Westphalia were affected by local thunderstorms, some with heavy rain, on Friday. Emergency services reported fallen trees and waterlogged basements. Trees fell on cars in Höxter. Larger damages were initially not known. According to the DWD, there were still isolated showers on Saturday, for example in the Bielefeld area.
