North Rhine-Westphalia: Al-Zein trial: accused released from custody

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - In the trial against members of the Al-Zein clan, all three of the accused who were still in custody were released. After the three men made confessions in court, their arrest warrants were suspended in return, a spokesman for the Düsseldorf public prosecutor said on Wednesday. The parties involved in the process had previously agreed to an agreement. The "Bild" newspaper had previously reported.

Among those released is the clan boss, who had to post an additional bail of 80,000 euros. After the confessions, from the point of view of the public prosecutor's office, the prerequisites for a comprehensive confiscation of assets are in place, so that the damage caused by the admitted social security fraud can be fully compensated.

The accused around the 47-year-old clan boss are accused of social welfare fraud, money laundering, extortionate kidnapping, forced labor, hostage-taking, aggravated robbery, dangerous bodily harm, tax evasion and multiple extortion.
