North Rhine-Westphalia: Archdiocese of Cologne asks possible victims of abuse for help

Cologne (dpa / lnw) - In the case of a pastor who died in 2019, the Archdiocese of Cologne is asking possible victims of sexual abuse for help. The intervention department has reports on the priest, as the archdiocese announced on Wednesday. She now hopes that other people affected will comment. The accused was, among other things, from 2000 to 2010 President of the Kindermissionswerk der Sternsinger in Aachen.

According to the Archdiocese, the late Cardinal Joachim Meisner had already warned the retired pastor, imposed a fine and instructed him not to have contact with minors without adults. He was accused of sexually abusing a vulnerable adult. The victim had contacted the Archdiocese in 2012 and the case was reported to Rome. It was not clear whether the victim was 18 or younger at the time of the crime.

We are now looking for other possible victims of the pastor from the period 1966 to 1971 in Euskirchen, 1971 to 1972 in Bonn, 1972 to 1989 in the youth education center Haus Altenberg, 1972 to 1989 as a diocesan youth pastor, 1977 to 1983 as a speaker in the youth center in Düsseldorf, 1989 to 1989 2000 in a church in Kaarst, 2000 to 2010 as president of the carol singers’ children’s mission in Aachen and from 2010 to 2012 as a pastor in Prague.

Victims can turn to external contacts, including psychologist Tatjana Siepe and former detective and psychological adviser Peter Binot.
