North Rhine-Westphalia: Around a quarter of the employees in NRW 2021 in the home office

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - Three quarters of the 8.6 million people in employment in North Rhine-Westphalia did not work from home last year, but continued to work at their previous jobs. This was announced by the State Statistical Office IT.NRW on Tuesday. In particular, blue-collar workers almost all (97.8 percent) worked further away from their homes. The home office rate was higher among the self-employed and civil servants: in these groups, a good half of the employees continued to go to the office regularly, while the rest worked from home.

The figures are based on the microcensus, an annual survey of one percent of the population. On the subject of working from home, respondents were asked whether and how often they had worked from home in the last four weeks before the survey.
