Wuppertal (dpa / lnw) - Because of the gas crisis, the city of Wuppertal has taken initial measures to save energy: the municipal saunas are open less than before, the water temperatures in the bathrooms and the maximum temperatures of the saunas are reduced. The city is responding to the appeal by Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen) that "solidarity and quick action is necessary to avert the threatening scenarios of a gas shortage in the coming winter," said a commune statement.
From next Monday (July 4th) only two saunas will be open at the same time on six days of the week - all three saunas can only be used on Fridays. In addition, the maximum temperature of the saunas in all pools will be reduced by five degrees.
The water temperatures in the municipal pools would only be reduced minimally so that swimming training, which is important for children, would not be endangered again after the corona-related pool closures of the past two years. In non-swimmer pools, the water should not be colder than 29 degrees (previously 29.4 degrees) and in the swimmers' pools no colder than 27 degrees (previously 27.4 degrees). The sports and baths office hopes that these measures will result in significant energy savings - and asks all guests for solidarity and understanding.
