North Rhine-Westphalia: At 80 on the racing bike through the radar control

Wilnsdorf (dpa / lnw) - At 30 kilometers per hour too much, a racing cyclist in Wilnsdorf (Siegen-Wittgenstein district) smashed through the police radar control - and was faster than a good 1200 vehicles checked that day. The cyclist was caught at a good 80 kilometers per hour in the 50 zone, the police said on Wednesday. In the photo he "showed a certain aerodynamic driving position," said a police spokesman. So it's going downhill from there.

However, the speedy cyclist does not have to fear a fine - this is impossible due to his means of transport. According to the police, bicycles are not motor vehicles. Only these could be sanctioned with a fine for speed violations. Therefore, there were no investigations and punishment in the case.

The driver of a transporter, who was the only one who was faster than the racing bike during the inspection on Tuesday, is less fortunate. The man got the sad "victory of the day" at 104 kilometers per hour and has to reckon with a fine of 560 euros, a two-month driving ban and two points in Flensburg. According to the police, a total of 1,200 vehicles were checked, 120 of which were traveling too fast.
