Ochtrup (dpa / lnw) - One day after an attack on the employees of a gas station in Ochtrup in the Steinfurt district, two men are in custody. According to a joint statement from the police and the public prosecutor on Monday, the investigators accuse the suspects of attempted manslaughter and dangerous bodily harm. The 20 and 51-year-old men are said to have injured the 24-year-old on Sunday night with targeted kicks and punches to the head. Witnesses intervened and overpowered the 51-year-old. The 20-year-old was initially able to escape, but was later arrested in his apartment.

According to chief public prosecutor Martin Botzenhardt, investigations into the background to the crime are still ongoing. There is evidence of drug trafficking. According to the first report from the investigators on Sunday, the attackers are said to be a father and his son. Rescue workers had taken the 24-year-old to a hospital, which he was able to leave after outpatient treatment.
