Bad Sassendorf (dpa / lnw) - In Bad Sassendorf (Soest district) this weekend everything revolved around sheep and how to deal with the animals. Shepherds, sheep breeders and keepers in North Rhine-Westphalia came together there for their annual industry meeting, the NRW Sheep Days. Among other things, there were awards, auctions and a competition for herding dogs.
On Sunday, sheep breeds that are bred in North Rhine-Westphalia were awarded. 93 animals of 13 different breeds had been registered, as the organizer, the sheep breeders' association of North Rhine-Westphalia, announced. The state winners were honored by the new Agriculture Minister Silke Gorißen (CDU).
There was also an auction of economic breeds on Sunday. At the NRW Paddock Dog Championships, dogs and dog owners had to cope with various tasks with a flock of sheep. The NRW sheep days had already started on Saturday.
