North Rhine-Westphalia: Bank branch badly damaged after ATM blast

Herten (dpa / lnw) - On Friday morning in Herten, unknown persons blew up an ATM on the ground floor of an apartment building. The police were informed about the blast at 4:38 a.m., a spokesman said. After the fact, three dark-clad people fled in a car, the police said. Previously, two of them entered the branch while another waited in the car. The police also used a helicopter to search. The premises of the bank branch had been badly damaged; the apartment building is not in danger of collapsing. According to the police, it was initially unclear whether the perpetrators were also able to steal money.
