This was the result of an evaluation published on Wednesday by the State Statistical Office IT.NRW on the price development of grilled food, which is particularly popular in summer. According to this, sausages in the most populous federal state were 18.4 percent more expensive in August than a year earlier. Pork chops and escalopes rose by 16.3 percent. And 17.1 percent more had to be paid for sauces, spices and condiments. Overall, food prices increased by 17.9 percent in NRW between August 2021 and August 2022.
