Cologne (dpa / lnw) - A World War II bomb found in Cologne-Neuehrenfeld was successfully defused on Thursday evening. A spokesman for the city of Cologne announced that around 1,800 residents were affected by the evacuation. More than 150 residents gathered in the evening at a contact point in a Cologne high school. The defusing took place around 11:00 p.m. After that, people could return home.

A total of around 130 emergency services were deployed. The five hundredweight dud was found on Thursday afternoon.
