North Rhine-Westphalia: Bonn University Hospital wants the court to prohibit strikes

Bonn (dpa / lnw) - In the dispute over a collective agreement relief, the fronts are further hardened. The Bonn University Hospital now wants to have the strikes organized by the Verdi service union banned by court order. As the labor court in Bonn announced on Monday, a chamber appointment is scheduled for this Tuesday, 10 a.m., as part of an injunction procedure.

In the summary legal protection proceedings, the university clinic is taking action against a renewed call for a strike by Verdi for the period from June 11th to 17th. From the clinic's point of view, the labor dispute violates, among other things, the peace obligation and is illegal because "the claims cannot be enforced". From a medical point of view, continuing to accept the strike measures "is no longer justifiable in the interests of the patients," it said. "Therefore, the Bonn University Hospital is requesting the revocation of the call for strikes on the Bonn University Hospital's premises by way of a temporary injunction," said a spokeswoman for the labor court.

The Verdi union has been demanding better working conditions for nursing staff and other employees from six university hospitals in North Rhine-Westphalia for months and wants to negotiate a collective agreement for relief. The workers' strikes are now in their seventh week. At the same time, Verdi has been negotiating with the clinic management for a few weeks. So far there has been little rapprochement between the parties.
