North Rhine-Westphalia: Borussia Mönchengladbach: Further uncertain personnel planning

Mönchengladbach (dpa / lnw) - It is still unclear with which team Borussia Mönchengladbach will start the race beyond September 1st and whether other players will leave the club free of charge at the end of the season. Players like goalkeeper Yann Sommer, international Jonas Hofmann, Ramy Bensebaini or the two Frenchmen Alassane Plea and Marcus Thuram have contracts until the end of the season. If the club doesn't sell players who want to change now, there will be no money in the end. On the other hand, none of these players have renewed their contracts yet.

From a sporting point of view, the club doesn't really want to give up any of these professionals, and there are said to be no official interested parties. "There are no offers," said sporting director Roland Virkus on Thursday. However, Max Eberl's successor is not giving up hope of being able to extend one or the other contract. "No player has said they don't want to renew," said Virkus. This summer, the Gladbach internationals had to let Matthias Ginter go without a transfer fee, for Breel Embolo, who switched to AS Monaco, there was around twelve million euros.
