North Rhine-Westphalia: Breaking into your own apartment becomes a drug dealer's undoing

Essen (dpa / lnw) - With a burglary in his own apartment, a man in Essen unintentionally caught the eye of drug investigators. A resident reported a break-in at his neighbor's home on Wednesday evening. The perpetrator is still in the apartment. The police rushed to the scene of the crime and actually found a 34-year-old there. However, it was the tenant of the apartment. Because his key had disappeared, he quickly kicked in his own apartment door.

The officials noticed something completely different on the occasion: In the 34-year-old's apartment there were tents everywhere, in which cannabis plants were growing. They also found marijuana and various weapons. The man was arrested.
