North Rhine-Westphalia: Breakneck escape from the police, apparently without reason

Gelsenkirchen (dpa / lnw) - During a chase with the police, a 23-year-old raced through Gelsenkirchen at a speed of 140. The special thing about it: when the officials were finally able to stop him, they found no reason at all to flee. The 23-year-old was completely blameless and had consumed neither alcohol nor drugs.

A patrol car wanted to check the car early on Saturday morning, the police said. But when the driver saw the stop signal, he accelerated. He raced through several small side streets to shake off the police officers. He was up to 140 kilometers per hour fast - at the permitted 50 km / h. The officials alerted several colleagues who finally cut off the 23-year-old's path and forced him to stop. Because of the breakneck escape, the man had to leave his driver's license and his car with the police. Investigators are now trying to figure out why he fled in the first place.
