A youth from Essen stabs his brother in their bedroom. Now he has been convicted.

Essen (dpa / lnw) - A 15-year-old from Essen was sentenced to eight years in prison on Tuesday for murdering his brother. The judges at the Essen Regional Court had no doubt that the youth stabbed his four-year-old brother to death on the night of August 9, 2022. Doctors later counted 17 stab wounds. The scene of the crime was the shared bedroom in the parents' apartment.

According to a court spokesman, the motive for the crime remained unclear. Although the 15-year-old made a partial confession, he referred to gaps in his memory. The judges ruled the act murder. Due to the young age of the accused, the trial took place completely behind closed doors.
