Duisburg (dpa / lnw) - A walker in Duisburg faced a mysterious scenario at Christmas: near the Duisburg water ski facility, the walker came across a burned-out car with a corpse in the driver's seat. A few meters away there was a second car that had obviously collided head-on with a tree, the police reported on Tuesday.
The event must have happened on the night of Christmas Day. The body has since been autopsied, it said. However, neither the identity nor the cause of death could be communicated. The homicide squad is now trying to shed light on the owners of the vehicles. Both holders have not yet been found, it said.
The police are now looking for witnesses who saw the vehicle fire or who made other suspicious observations, such as cars driving in a conspicuous manner.
