Castrop-Rauxel (dpa/lnw) - Several children and a 60-year-old teacher were slightly injured in a traffic accident involving a bus in Castrop-Rauxel (Recklinghausen district) on Tuesday morning. According to previous knowledge, an eleven-year-old boy from Castrop-Rauxel wanted to cross a zebra crossing on Bahnhofstrasse at around 9.15 a.m., the police said.

A 47-year-old bus driver was unable to brake in time and hit the boy. He sustained minor injuries in the fall. Nine students from Castrop-Rauxel and a teacher on the bus were injured as a result of the abrupt braking maneuver. Most of them could be released after outpatient care. The majority were received by their parents. The 11-year-old and another child were taken to the hospital for further examinations and treatment. The investigation into the exact course of the accident and the cause of the accident continued, it said.
