Wuppertal (dpa / lnw) - A driver was seriously injured in an accident in Wuppertal late on Saturday evening. His car briefly caught fire after he drove into a bus stop, a police spokeswoman said. The 29-year-old lost control of his vehicle for an initially unknown reason and drove into the bus shelter.
As the car came to a stop, the engine compartment caught fire. However, police managed to quickly extinguish the fire. Because the car was severely deformed by the impact, the driver's leg was pinched. Firefighters rescued the seriously injured man, who was then taken to a hospital.
