Reichshof (dpa / lnw) - A drunk driver rolled his car on a country road in the Oberberg district early on Sunday morning and then fled on foot with his passenger. The 28-year-old and the 22-year-old passenger had freed themselves from the car, the police said. The man was seriously injured, the woman was slightly injured.

According to the information, a witness saw the car lying in a meadow near the Reichshof community and informed the police. While emergency services searched the area with a helicopter for possible injuries, the driver and passenger returned to the scene of the accident in a taxi. Both were then taken to the hospital. According to initial findings, the car went off the road in a left-hand bend, first hit a telephone pole and then landed on the roof. The 28-year-old had to give a blood sample.
