North Rhine-Westphalia: Catalyst thief is trapped under the car

Krefeld (dpa / lnw) - When trying to steal a catalytic converter, a man was trapped under the car in Krefeld. A witness reported a person stuck under a car from a supermarket parking lot, the police in Krefeld said on Tuesday. He is trying to get free with the help of another man. When the fire department arrived, the second man piled up. When the man was finally free, he too tried to flee but was arrested by the police. The 35-year-old, who was slightly injured, said he jacked the car up to steal the catalytic converter. Then the jack fell over. A breath alcohol test revealed a value of three per mille, according to the police. The 35-year-old was arrested for the time being.
