North Rhine-Westphalia: Cellar fire: Five people saved from an apartment building

Duisburg (dpa / lnw) - The fire brigade saved five people from a burning apartment building in Duisburg. The fire broke out in the basement of the house early Friday morning, the fire department said. At the time, there were around 25 people in the house, most of whom were able to leave the building themselves. The fire brigade rescued four residents with ladders from their balconies, another person from the basement. Nobody got hurt. A total of around 60 emergency services were on site. After the extinguishing work was completed, all residents were able to return to the house, it said. The police are investigating the cause of the fire.
