North Rhine-Westphalia: Citizens help the police in pursuit

Aachen (dpa / lnw) - The police in Aachen have caught a suspected drug dealer - thanks to spontaneous ride offers from citizens. As the police announced on Friday, patrol officers had observed several men in a possible drug deal, including the 18-year-old suspect. When the men saw the officers, they ran away. The police officers followed the 18-year-old on foot. A citizen driving by on an electric scooter then offered his vehicle to an officer. Meanwhile, his colleague was taken away by a car driver.

Finally, the officers were able to arrest the 18-year-old. There was marijuana and money in a bag he discarded while fleeing. The Aachener is now being investigated for illegal trafficking in narcotics. The police said “a heartfelt thank you” to the helpful witnesses.
