North Rhine-Westphalia: Clan Villa: Trial against extended family from mid-June

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - In the case of the "Clan Villa" from Leverkusen, the trial at the Düsseldorf district court is scheduled to begin on June 15. Seven members of an extended family are accused of, among other things, commercial gang fraud, as the district court announced on Monday.

The accused are accused of having improperly received social benefits and money laundering between 2014 and 2021: "Regardless of the existing family assets, the accused are said to have improperly received social benefits totaling almost 3 million euros in the years 2014 to 2021." According to the indictment, the suspects are also accused of extortion, tax evasion, kidnapping and aggravated assault and other crimes.

The police raided the clan's villa last June and searched it, found live firearms and confiscated six-figure sums of cash. The case had caused a nationwide sensation.
