North Rhine-Westphalia: climate atlas is here: information on green roofs and heat zones

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The State Environment Agency has published a new climate atlas for North Rhine-Westphalia. The offer available on the Internet offers data on the development and consequences of the climate. With the data series, historical and possible future projections on the development of the climate in NRW can be called up, as the State Office for Nature, Environment and Consumer Protection NRW announced in Düsseldorf on Wednesday. A green roof cadastre can be found as well as heavy rain maps, flood plains in the event of flooding or heat-stressed areas in the inner cities.

"The climate atlas is another building block to promote climate adaptation in NRW," said Environment Minister Oliver Krischer (Greens). Previously separate information systems were combined for the new offer. With the atlas, the information can be called up in bundles in the future. One area contains data for professionals who use the climate atlas professionally, such as city planners. Private individuals can also view the offer.

Conceptual differences between climate change, adaptation and protection as well as methods of surveys and the development of indicators are also explained.
