North Rhine-Westphalia: complete closure of the railway line in Opladen

Leverkusen (dpa / lnw) - The railway line between Haan-Gruiten and Opladen will be closed from October 1 at 9 p.m. to October 4 at 9 p.m. According to a press release from Deutsche Bahn on Tuesday, the reason for this is the removal of mud damage caused by the flood disaster in July last year. Slope and dam securing measures had already been carried out last year, but further repair work must now follow. Due to the closure, there are timetable changes and diversions in long-distance and local rail traffic.

According to the information, long-distance trains between the routes Bonn/Cologne to Berlin, Bonn/Cologne to Hamburg and Cologne to southern Germany will be diverted. The stops in Hagen, Wuppertal and Solingen and partly in Cologne are omitted. Long-distance trains on the Cologne–Dresden route begin and end in Dortmund.

In local transport, the trains of the RE 7 and the RB 48 - both National Express - are affected. The RE 7 will be diverted from Wuppertal-Vohwinkel to Neuss via Düsseldorf main station. The stops at Cologne Central Station, Cologne Messe/Deutz, Opladen and Solingen are no longer available. Due to other construction measures, the RE 7 line between Cologne and Neuss is canceled. Instead, there is a shuttle service between Neuss and Krefeld. The RB 48 will be replaced by buses between Haan-Gruiten and Leverkusen-Manfort.
