North Rhine-Westphalia: Corona incidence in North Rhine-Westphalia under 500

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The seven-day incidence of new corona infections in North Rhine-Westphalia is 497.3. The number of reported new infections per 100,000 inhabitants continued to fall, according to information from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Friday. The previous day it was 506.9 and a week earlier it was 559.2. Nationwide, the current incidence was 607.0 - a downward trend was also recorded here.

In NRW there were 16,077 new confirmed corona cases within one day. The number of deaths related to Covid-19 rose by a further 33 in the most populous state.

However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases that are not recorded by the health authorities - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.
