North Rhine-Westphalia: Corona incidence in NRW constant: well above the federal level

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The seven-day incidence of corona infected people in North Rhine-Westphalia is consistently well above the national level. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the value in NRW on Wednesday morning was 774.0, as on the previous day. Nationwide, the RKI registered a value of 646.3 on Wednesday. A week ago, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in North Rhine-Westphalia was 551.4 within a week.

The RKI reported 31,199 new Covid 19 cases in NRW on Wednesday. The number of deaths rose by 21 to 25,737. The incidences were highest in the most populous federal state in the Borken district (1437.5) and in the Hochsauerland district (1204.5).

However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases that have not been recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.
