North Rhine-Westphalia: Corona incidence in NRW continues to fall

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The corona incidence continues to decrease in North Rhine-Westphalia. On Wednesday morning, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported 249.4 registered new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days for the most populous federal state. A week ago the value was 305.4, four weeks ago (10 August) it was 395.5. The RKI gave an incidence of 217.2 for the federal government on Wednesday.

However, the information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.

According to the RKI, there were 11,539 new confirmed corona infections in NRW within one day. That period added 29 virus-related deaths.
