North Rhine-Westphalia: Corona incidence in NRW continues to fall to 572.0

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the seven-day incidence for North Rhine-Westphalia on Thursday as 572.0. This means that the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week was slightly lower than on the previous day (597.9). A week earlier (July 14), the value was 647.6. According to the RKI, the nationwide incidence on Thursday was 740.3, significantly higher than in NRW.

According to the health authorities, there have been 20,722 new Covid-19 diseases and 44 deaths related to the corona virus in the most populous federal state in the past 24 hours.

However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases that have not been recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.
