North Rhine-Westphalia: Corona incidence in NRW drops to 222.7

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The number of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants reported within seven days continues to decrease in North Rhine-Westphalia. On Thursday, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported a seven-day incidence of 222.7. A week ago the value in NRW was 249.1, four weeks ago (18 August) 397.5. According to the RKI, there have been 8,694 confirmed new Covid 19 cases and eleven deaths related to the corona virus in the past 24 hours.

However, the information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.
