North Rhine-Westphalia: Corona incidence in NRW falls below the 300 mark

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The corona incidence in North Rhine-Westphalia has continued to decrease slightly. For Thursday morning, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported 296.9 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days for NRW. A week ago (25 August) the value was 350.3, four weeks ago (4 August) it was 435.7.

However, the information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.

According to the RKI information from Thursday, there were 10,836 new confirmed corona infections in NRW within one day. That period added 27 virus-related deaths.
