North Rhine-Westphalia: Corona incidence in NRW increased slightly

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the seven-day incidence of new corona infections in North Rhine-Westphalia on Wednesday morning as 228.7. The value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week was thus slightly above the previous day's value of 224.0 (previous week 223.5).

The seven-day incidence in the most populous federal state remained below the nationwide value of currently 264.6. Within 24 hours, 10,985 new Covid-19 cases and 17 deaths related to the corona virus were registered in NRW.

Overall, the information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.
