North Rhine-Westphalia: Corona incidence in NRW jumps to 510.9

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The seven-day incidence of corona infected people in North Rhine-Westphalia has risen to 510.9. This was announced by the Robert Koch Institute on Tuesday morning (3:12 a.m.) in Berlin. On Friday, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants was 377 within a week.

However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases that have not been recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.

The health authorities in NRW reported 22,573 new corona infections and 19 deaths to the RKI within one day. The RKI has counted a total of 5,428,122 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 in the federal state since the beginning of the pandemic in spring 2020. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections go undetected.
