North Rhine-Westphalia: Corona incidence in NRW now at 597.9

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the seven-day incidence for North Rhine-Westphalia on Wednesday as 597.9. The number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week thus showed a downward trend. The day before, an incidence of 623.6 had been reported, a week earlier the value on Wednesday (July 13) was 654.0. Nationwide, the RKI currently registered an incidence of 740.1.

There were 22,199 new Covid 19 cases in the most populous federal state. The RKI also reported another 40 deaths in connection with Corona.

However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases that have not been recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.
