Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - In contrast to some other federal states, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia continues to adhere to the isolation requirement for people infected with Covid 19. "North Rhine-Westphalia will not go down this path of completely lifting the obligation to isolate people infected with the corona virus," said the head of the state chancellery, Nathanael Liminski (CDU), on Wednesday in the Düsseldorf state parliament. The quarantine requirement has already been abolished in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Schleswig-Holstein and Hesse, and in Rhineland-Palatinate it will fall on Saturday.
Minister Liminski, representing Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann (CDU), said that the infection process and scientific findings would continue to be monitored and existing regulations would be constantly reviewed. At the current time, however, a complete abolition of the obligation to isolate is wrong. This had been demanded by the FDP: One should rely more on people's personal responsibility, said Yvonne Gebauer. The state government is sticking to measures that were originally intended for the peak of the pandemic.
