North Rhine-Westphalia: Cryptocurrency fraud process burst: Schöffin falls ill

Münster (dpa / lnw) - Eight months after the start of the process, a fraud process involving a suspected cryptocurrency burst in Münster. The reason is the absence of a lay judge due to illness, which cannot be replaced. A married couple from Greven was accused of having received more than 88,000 deposits from bona fide investors in 2015 and 2016. According to the investigation, the accused collected around 320 million euros on behalf of an internationally wanted businesswoman. They were said to be allowed to keep one percent of the money themselves. According to the indictment, the investors believed that they had invested in the "OneCoin" cryptocurrency, although it is unclear whether it even existed.

According to the Münster Regional Court, the criminal proceedings are to begin again in August with a new cast.
