Emsdetten (dpa / lnw) - A driver caught a cyclist driving against the direction of travel and seriously injured her. The 20-year-old woman on the bike was on Thursday on Reckenfelder Straße in the Emsdetten district of Hollingen (Steinfurt district) heading towards the city and wanted to change sides of the road near a pedestrian crossing, the police said. The 72-year-old driver was traveling out of town and caught the young woman on the bike head-on when changing sides.
The cyclist was flown to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. The driver was in shock. The investigation continued as of Thursday evening.
