Cologne (dpa / lnw) - After the death of a young man at an illegal techno party in Cologne, the public prosecutor's office is checking whether there is third-party negligence. A death investigation had been initiated, a spokesman said on Wednesday. The 20-year-old from Eitorf (Rhein-Sieg district) collapsed at the party in an empty building on Saturday morning and died shortly afterwards in the hospital.
The autopsy did not reveal a clear cause of death, said the chief prosecutor. A chemical-toxicological analysis should now clarify whether alcohol or drugs are possible causes. In addition, a virological report was ordered.
According to a spokesman, the police are also investigating a video message on Instagram. In it, a man who claims to be one of the organizers of the party speaks, among other things, of pills that someone sold there. The Cologne "Express" had previously reported.
