North Rhine-Westphalia: Driver crashes into tree: seriously injured

Siegburg (dpa / lnw) - A driver without a license crashed into a tree near Siegburg early Thursday morning and was seriously injured. The 24-year-old had to be freed from the wreck by the fire brigade on a country road in the Rhein-Sieg district and was then taken to a hospital, the police said. His 22-year-old passenger was slightly injured.

According to the first findings of the police, the person who caused the accident drove straight ahead in a right-hand bend because of excessive speed and collided with the tree. It is suspected that the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Stolen license plates were also attached to the car. Highway 316 was completely closed on Thursday morning after the accident between Siegburg and Kaldauen.
